Dog Poems

The dog poems were very interesting yet inspiring. In one of the poems by, Natalie Kusz, she talks about the dog being beaten by previous owners. She also talks about how the owner at one point was attacked maliciously by another dog which caused her to be handicapped in a way. You would think that if someone was to be attacked by a vicious dog that they would be frightened by any dog they come across, but in this poem the women is courageous and continues to love her dog. The dog itself too isn’t frightened by its owner even though the dog has been abused and unloved. This poem speaks to me in a way and sends an inspiring message. I feel as though this poem is telling the audience that even though you may never forget you should always forgive and go about your life. You shouldn’t live in fear because all it will do is break a person and not allow them to live life to the fullest. The women was attacked by a dog, but she didn’t take that out on her new dog instead she loved the dog and didn’t allow her past to get to her.
