The glass managerie

The Glass Menagerie was interesting in that it showed the uniqueness of the family. Sometimes it is okay to get out of your comfort zone and be different from the rest of the crowd and that’s exactly how the Wingfied’s family was. Laura seemed scared of reality and didn’t want to be a part of the world and instead decided to seclude herself from society which is actually sad. It was understandable for her too feel that way considering that she is crippled. To past time she collected glass which was odd, but to her the glass symbolized something.  At first the play was confusing and different because of the different personalities the characters obtained. As I read more I started to realize that the story did a lot of foreshadowing which I enjoyed. I love when movies, shows, and stories have foreshadowing in them because it makes me want to see or read more just to know what happens next. Interesting things happened with the characters Tom, Laura, and Amanda which kept me on my toes. I didn’t agree at first when Tom left his family to explore the world, but when I thought about it he has been supporting his family since his father left. I feel as though all that work he had to do probably take away his childhood and felt the need to just explore and not do the same thing every day. I can honestly say this was one of my favorite plays to read.

  1. I agree, this was one of my favorite stories to read and including the visual audio we seen in class.
